Heels in music

Los tacones en la música

Ángel Alarcón |

Throughout musical history, many songs have mentioned shoes or heels in their lyrics. Depending on the author, footwear has been used in a positive, negative, or neutral way. Each song is a world in itself, and we are part of it.

Today we wanted to compile some of the most iconic songs that have featured heels in their lyrics or those in which the heel is the clear protagonist. We're going to take a tour from the 1970s to the present day, from Spain to Central America, from pop to rap... Even the sound of heels has been used to create melodies in music. For example, in Carlos Jean's song Gimme the Base, the sound of flamenco dancer Cecilia Gómez's heels is used (at the beginning of the song).

Let's start with two songs that are exclusively about heels. The first is called Zapatos de tacones alto (High Heel Shoes ), a song covered and sung by many artists, including Karina, Sergio y Estibaliz, Miriam Cruz, and others.

The second song will be less familiar to you. "Con zapatos de tacones" is a cumbia composed by Bronco, a Mexican group. The lyrics are very fun, and they contain clues that tell us good reasons to wear high heels.

What did you think?

Now's the time to reminisce and delve into the melodies of years past and present. The following artists have mentioned heels in their songs; some mentions are truly original or unusual, while others go almost unnoticed:

Breeze of Hope – Nuria Fergó (2002)

“Clear spring,

new high-heeled shoes

Ouch! The heart is red.

I will look for love from my balcony”

Click – Anahi with Miranda and Moderatto (2011)

“Obviously red shoes with HEELS .
When I am highest
The applause is greater
Everyone is fighting to get into the VIP area. Yes!
Make way for me. Get out of here!

Like a Candle - Melendi (2010)

“My heart is exhausted

like the HEEL of your boot.

Counting on your fingers

“I love you from one hand.”

She – Baby (2004)

“Today the woman was born
perfect as they expected,
has shamelessly broken the established rules,
today she has put on HEELS for

make your steps sound, today

knows that his life will never
more will be a failure.”

Bewitched - Tino Casal (1983)

“Stop, my witch, with a stiletto heel
victim of heartbreak.”

Lady Gaga - Zenttric (2011)

“You told me you love me just the way I am.
Today you came as Lady Gaga,
“HEELS until the sun.”

We drew lots - She dances alone (1996)

"Why doesn't it dance for me anymore, a worm in my stomach

when the phone rings and I hear your voice

Why I didn't get dressed up for the last date

and I didn't use her perfume or wear HEELS "

I let my hair down – Gloria Trevi (2006)

“And I let my hair down,

I dressed as a queen,

I put on HEELS ,

I painted myself and I was beautiful.”

Penelope – Joan Manuel Serrat (1970)

“Penelope,

with her brown leather bag

and her high heels

and her Sunday best.”

I Will Survive – Mónica Naranjo (2000)

“Acrylic hair, leather and HEEL,

makeup even on the heart

and at dusk it blooms again

lubricates the city.

There is no one in the world, no

“Nobody is tougher than me.”

Cheap Heels – Huecco (2006)

I want to taste the red of your lips,
I want to spend my life in your arms
those cheap HEELS ,
Baby, you’re close again.”

You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift (2011)

“She wears high heels

I were sneakers // I was sneakers

She cheers the captain // She cheers the captain,

“I'm on the bleachers”
