At the Ángel Alarcón workshop, every day is a pursuit of excellence. The sound of the machines, the scent of fine leathers, and the precision of the patterns are part of our identity. However, this week our design tables have been filled with something unexpected: wax strokes and sketches that don’t follow measurements, but do express emotions.
To celebrate Mother’s Day, we wanted to pause the technical work to glimpse the most honest perspective there is: that of the children of the women on our team. We simply left sheets of paper and colors on the table for them to draw the shoes they see their moms wear out the door every morning.
We sat down with Fani (Accounting), Tere (Export), and Carmen (Trimmer in our factory) to see how their children have drawn the shoes they themselves help create.
What did you feel when you saw your shoes redesigned by them?
Fani: It made me laugh so much! My son drew shoes that look like spaceships. I spend my days among numbers and Excel sheets, so seeing that for him my work has that touch of fantasy... it brings a huge smile to your face.
Tere: I loved the precision. In Export, we always keep an eye on detail to make everything perfect, and seeing that she captured exactly the shape of my favorite pump delighted me.
Carmen: Trimming is a craft of hands and close attention to the machine. It’s physical work, joining pieces with great precision. Seeing the defined strokes my daughter made made me feel that my work is a bit like creating armor. She says to me: "Mom, these are the ones that never break, right?" She drew them as if they were invincible.
At Ángel Alarcón, the true value lies not only in the leather we choose or the precision of the last, but in the strength of women like Fani, Tere, and Carmen, who bring authenticity to every pair. They turn their workday into an example of perseverance, showing that true mastery means walking with confidence and purpose, both inside and outside the workshop.
Beyond the drawings, we wanted to know which models from the new collection are favorites among those who know our product best.

Also, I love this raffia version; it gives the look a very special touch, it’s super comfortable, and honestly, it gets you through a busy day without losing elegance."

Carmen joins the trend with our Leopard Sneakers: "I’ve gotten into wearing them with colorful socks, which is very trendy right now. It’s my favorite option to keep up with the daily pace with a very stylish touch."
The million-dollar question: Would these drawings pass quality control?
Carmen laughs first: "No way! If I had to trim a shoe following those lines, we’d go crazy in the workshop."
Tere adds: "Exporting those designs would definitely be a challenge!"
Fani closes the conversation with the key point: "But emotionally... it’s the most perfect design that has ever passed through our hands. No last can match the imprint these children leave on us."
